As We Age

Uncategorized Sep 16, 2022

Something I have noticed over the years is that as we get older, things that used to be OK for our bodies will start to bother us.

In our 20’s, we could eat and drink what we wanted, skip sleep and slump all day.

Past the age of 35, or if we are lucky, 40, our bodies start to slowly become less adaptive and less resilient. Things that we never felt before will become uncomfortable. Movements and activities that didn’t bother us can cause an injury.

This is a normal part of aging. We have less fluid in our bodies, which means our tissues are a little drier and stiffer.

This is one explanation for those mysterious aches pains and injuries that seem to pop up out of nowhere. The body is slowly changing, and it’s not in the direction that we want to go.

The pandemic has exacerbated this problem, because many of us have not been able to do our favorite sports, and healthy activities. And the added layer of stress and increased computer time has not helped.

Of course the best thing to do is engage in preventative exercises, stretches, and treatment.

A 15 minute daily routine, and a good computer setup will both go a long way towards keeping you pain-free. And staying well hydrated helps as well :-)

If you have felt unexplained changes, it could be a sign that it’s time to add to your routine and take a little better care of your body.

I’m here to advise you on your best routine and help you with preventative care.
